We also offer maintenance services for your vintage car while in storage, such as coolant, lubrication, battery and tire care & maintenance, to keep it in peak condition for your use.

The heart of Volante Classics is two men with a shared passion for fine cars: Roberto Donati, a meticulous restorer with world-class credentials and a portfolio of concours-level projects, and Robert Salter, a seasoned and discerning enthusiast with long experience in the world of motoring and motorsports.

Roberto Donati

Roberto Donati’s love of his craft lies in his genes, being a second-generation automobile restorer who learned the meticulous, old-world techniques from his father in Modena, in the heart of Italian ‘Gran Turismo’ country.

After moving to the United States in 1986, Roberto Donati worked for a number of years as a respected restorer at the world-renowned Paul Russell Company in Essex, Massachusetts, before launching his own highly successful “Scuderia Donati” restoration shop in the heart of the Cape Ann motoring countryside.

Among Roberto’s notable projects are recent restorations of a Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’ coupé and a rare black Ferrari 275 GTB/4 ‘Long Nose’ Berlinetta coupé.

Robert Salter

Robert Salter, whose love for pedigreed cars matches that of his business partner, is a skilled amateur driver and longtime member of the Porsche Club of America, Lime Rock Drivers Club, and various other sports car organizations.

Over the years he has owned and driven a wide variety of European exotics and sports cars, and possesses a passion for all things automotive that knows few bounds.

As Salter puts it, "I like thinking about cars. I like talking about cars. I like buying cars. I like how they look, sound, smell, feel and the excitement they generate."

Jim Theriault

After driving his first European sports car, Jim Theriault was enchanted for life. From the early ‘70s, through the ‘80s he purchased, sold, appraised, traded and marketed Ferraris, BMWs, Mercedes-Benz and Alfa Romeos. A period since considered by many as the “sweet spot” of their design/value/performance levels. "We are offering this genre of cars to those who either missed out, want another or are new to this experience." "These are unique, value-priced, collectible cars that can be driven to their fullest and enjoyed to their utmost, with what we believe to be minimum financial exposure. The Volante Classics’ sales model is one of trust and transparency, seeking to make the purchase and delivery of each automobile a positive and memorable experience.” Contact Jim for an appointment to see for yourself.
